Leanza and Mark parted ways in 2013 and they share two sons. She passed away on July 28, 2017, at the age of 49 years old after a head injury incurred in a fall at her home in Jacksonville.

After his graduation in 1986, he served for one year as a photographer and reporter gaining skills at  KWWL Television. In December 1989, Mark got a job at KSRP TV as a weekend Sportscaster, for one year and 11 months. He served as a Weekend Sportscaster and Anchor from December 1991 to June 1993 in Los Angeles Television Station KCAL LLC.

During his time at KCAL, he won Golden Mike Award for his service and then went for special assignments at California, ESPN, and Los Angeles. Mark Steines went to serve as a substitute anchor and correspondent at Entertainment Tonight. He left the station after spending 17 years and one month.
