Wright was born in Colorado and grew up with an interest in the outdoors. They lived in the mountains he had a passion for survival and decided to become one with the wild. Wright enjoyed learning traditional archery and using primitive weapons. His thirst for the hunt has driven him all over the country. Wright took everything from a 12-foot gator with a bow to hunting Alaska’s big game.
After his baseball scholarship and some years in college, he settled down in Colorado. Wright searched for his dream job he worked on installing bank vaults to working on cruise boats. He then began guiding big game hunts. Wright then joined US Air Force there he learned the importance of inner strength and fortitude. After an injury, he moved back to civilian life. Wright then began working on making customized knives and teaching others the art of primitive weapons and wilderness survival.
Wright spends his free time climbing Colorado 14,000 foot peaks and running obstacle course races. He has mastered the ancient skill of throwing Atlatl and has the accuracy and power to take any game animal.

Outback Wrangler is an Australian factual tv series. It follows the work of helicopter and animal catcher Matt Wright on his adventurous life on the Australian outback. The show was first broadcasted in 2011 on National Geographic and the Nine Network. The series has been seen in over 90 countries.
