After taking children to schools, parents seem to assume their duties as parents and leave everything to the teacher. Most of the parents who are working come home tired and forget even to know how the child is fairing in school. A parent should be a teacher at home for both formal and informal education. At home, the parents are supposed to install discipline to children so that the teacher will not have a hard time teaching them.
A parent is supposed to know about the activities his/her children are engaged in during the day and also know how the child is relating to others in the school. Some children are being bullied in schools by their class/school mates may be due to their race, skin color, physical appearance, or their performance. For good performance, parents are supposed to ensure that their children are comfortable and safe in the schools they are in.
Some cases have been reported of children committing suicide after being bullied in schools. Apart from checking their homework, parents are supposed to know how the child is relating to others in class and teachers. The children find themselves caught in a situation of balancing, bullying, studies, and fear of his/her parents which leads to depression and may think of hurting themselves.
Parents should be role models source of protection to the children and not inflict fear. Violent families have greatly affected the lives of their children emotionally and academically. This makes the children lack the courage to express what they are passing through at school due to fear after seeing their parents fight or one assaulting another. Family differences, physical and verbal abuses should never be exposed to children.
Parents have also been careless at home where they have exposed adult content to children. This affects children psychologically and grows the desire to do what they saw. Parents are supposed to ensure any material that children should not see is far from them and locked. It’s very disturbing to see parents smoking in front of children and not thinking about how it will affect the children. out of curiosity, the children may try smoking like “daddy” or “mommy” when u leave them alone at home. This may make them to never stop doing it and even become addicts at a very young age.
Parents are supposed to set a good example for their children and someone to be emulated. They should feel safe and protected near their parents. parents should this long holiday caused by Coronavirus to teach what is not taught in schools especially discipline, relating with others, communication, forgiveness, love, appreciation, etc…

Parents should stop the use of drugs and alcohol consumption while they are pregnant. Both parents should support their children in any way in order to understand them and advice them in any adequate way in order to decrease Mental and Health issues on the Children.
